Part 1. A representative of the Department of Engineering Technology, Construction Science and Management at Texas State University will provide a brief overview of what’s going on in their department and on Campus construction projects. This is a great opportunity to establish a relationship with the university for future hires and for future CFMA scholarship opportunities.
Part 2. Fraud in Construction: Understanding and Identifying the various types of fraud in construction and what to do about them. According to the National Law Review, between 5% and 10% of total construction revenue is lost annually to fraud, with the primary sources being billing fraud, bid rigging, money laundering or tax avoidance, theft or substitution of materials, bribery or corruption, false representation (of documents, figures, certificates), change order manipulation and fictitious vendors.
